Start with your passport and purpose
Answer four questions to see which official routes to check first. Nothing you enter is stored or sent anywhere.
Routes to check
Choose a purpose to see the routes to check.
Possible route statuses
- Visa-exempt entry
- Tourist eVisa
- Visa on arrival
- Saudi mission / MOFA
- Sponsor- or institution-led routes
This guide suggests official routes to check. It cannot confirm eligibility or guarantee a visa or entry.
Five routes, five different statuses
Being eligible for an eVisa or a visa on arrival is not the same as being visa-exempt. Check which status applies to your passport and purpose.
Visa-exempt entry
Some passports may qualify under an active official agreement. Exemption can depend on passport type, purpose, stay length and effective dates.
How to confirm
No complete official exemption list was found, so none is published here. Confirm on the MOFA platform or with a Saudi mission.

Tourist eVisa
An online tourist route for eligible passports and permitted purposes. The portal currently describes a one-year, multiple-entry eVisa with stays of up to 90 days.
How to confirm
Check your nationality in the portal's live list; confirm stay, entries and fee on the portal before paying.
Visa on arrival
An application at a Saudi port of entry for travellers who meet current official criteria. The airline first checks that the nationality is on the authorised list.
How to confirm
Confirm the official route and your airline's requirements before departure. Issuance is not guaranteed.
Saudi mission / MOFA
Use when a tourist eVisa route does not fit your passport or purpose, or when another visa type is required.
How to confirm
Apply through the MOFA visa platform, a Saudi mission abroad or the digital embassy, as the service directs.
Sponsor- or institution-led routes
Business, employment, Hajj and some other visits start with a Saudi company, employer, licensed provider or official platform — not with the traveller alone.
How to confirm
Ask your host which official service it will use, and keep the request reference it gives you.
Visa types by purpose
Choose the route for the real purpose of your trip. A visit visa is not permission to work or study, and Hajj has its own route.

Route checklists differ. Treat each item as something to check, not a fixed rule.
Passport type and validity
Check whether required
For the eVisa route the passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry. The tourist regulation sets the same period “subject to bilateral agreements”, so exceptions can exist.
Accurate application details
Check whether required
Details must match the travel document; for business requests, names are entered as in the passport.
Photo
Check whether required
If the application form requests a photo, follow the specifications it shows.

Where official sources differ
US, UK and Schengen visa holders
The national portal says these visa holders can apply for a tourist visa on arrival. The tourist regulation places them in a mission / digital-embassy route with eased documents and requires the visa to have been used. Confirm the current process on the eVisa portal or MOFA platform before you fly.
Umrah on a tourist eVisa vs the Umrah visa
The eVisa portal and terms allow Umrah (excluding Hajj) on a tourist eVisa. Nusuk's terms say its users performing Umrah must obtain an Umrah visa in advance. Both routes exist for different travellers: check which applies to your passport and date, and follow current Nusuk booking instructions.
Number of eVisa countries
Official pages give different counts. This guide publishes no count or list — use the live nationality selector on the eVisa portal.
Entry and stay rules
Approval is the start, not the end. These rules apply after the visa is issued.
Follow the purpose and permitted stay shown on the issued visa, and respect its validity.

Frequently asked questions
Can I visit without a visa?
Some passports may qualify under current agreements; eligibility depends on passport, purpose, duration and effective date. eVisa or arrival eligibility is not visa exemption. Confirm with MOFA or a Saudi mission.
Source:MOFA Visa Platform (opens an official website in a new tab)· Checked 14 Oct 2026
What is the difference between visa-free, eVisa and visa on arrival?
Visa-exempt means no visa is needed under an agreement. An eVisa is applied for online before travel. A visa on arrival is applied for at the port of entry after the airline checks your nationality. They are separate statuses.
Can I get a visa at the airport?
Some travellers may qualify. Confirm current criteria and airline rules before travel; issuance is not guaranteed.
Source:Tourist Visa Regulations (opens an official website in a new tab)· Checked 14 Oct 2026
Can I work on a tourist visa?
No. A tourist visa is not permission to work, paid or unpaid. Use the official employment route through a Saudi employer.
Can I perform Umrah?
The tourist eVisa lists Umrah (excluding Hajj) as a permitted purpose, and Nusuk issues Umrah visas for its users. Check current eVisa and Nusuk instructions for your passport, visa and date; seasonal restrictions may apply.
Can I perform Hajj on a tourist visa?
No. Hajj requires the official Hajj visa and permit; it cannot be performed on a tourist or any other visa.
What if my nationality is not listed?
Check the MOFA visa platform or contact the nearest Saudi mission — the eVisa portal itself refers unlisted nationals to a Saudi embassy.
Does visa approval guarantee entry?
No. Entry is subject to border requirements and the immigration officer's decision.

How do I pay the fee or track my application?
Pay and track only through the official service you applied on. The eVisa fee is shown at payment and cannot be refunded; business requests are tracked on the MOFA website.
